Panga Fishing in southern Baja Mexico can be an experience of a lifetime! Dads bring the kids, They'll cherish the memory for the rest of their lives!

What is a Panga you ask? Well, The term 'Panga' means a large knife or machete, which can be used as a weapon or a cutting tool. The name 'Panga' evolved into the Mexican mariner's dictionary as a small boat or skiff, because the profile view of the Panga boat resembles the blade of a knife or machete... And what perfect name it is! Watching the sunrise over Cerralvo Island as your panga slices through the glass calm water of the Sea of Cortez can be an experience not soon forgotten. These Pangas are extremely seaworthy! We've been slammed in a Panga by 10 foot rollers 45 miles offshore on the Pacific side of Baja while chasing tuna offshore, And the Panga proved it's seaworthiness with a safe return back to the dock! Here in the Las Arenas Cerralvo Island region, we're fortunate to have glass calm seas more often than not... we're also fortunate to have Marlin, Yellowfin Tuna, Wahoo, and Dorado within 200 yards off the beach at times!... no need to go 45 miles offshore! These Mexican fishing guides, or 'Pangeros' have been prowling these flat calm waters for generations without a compass or electronics... and they always put you on the fish!

"Less puking, more fishing!"

Fortunately for us here in the Sea of Cortez, we normally don't have big rollong swells like the Pacific, Atlantic, or the Gulf of Mexico. The Baja Peninsula acts as a 1000 mile long breakwater or jetty, shielding us from the unforgiving waters of the Pacific Ocean. Just take a look at these images above... These images reflect the typical calm waters we're blessed with during late spring, summer, and fall here at Hotel Vista Cerralvo in the Sea of Cortez. If you have a wife, child, or a fishing buddy who typically gets sea sick while fishing the oceans back at home, their odds of getting sea sick here in the Sea of Cortez are drastically reduced... this is the perfect fishing trip for the entire family, as the seas are usually flatter than most fresh water lakes!

Here’s the Bottom line… No van ride,
Less boat ride, more fishing time!
Don’t spend precious hours of your dream vacation in a van driving to the fishing grounds! Stay with us and fish longer! This area is completely overshadowed by other La Paz and East Cape resorts, which keeps our location one of Baja’s best kept secrets!
