If you're a Kiteboarding or Windsurfing enthusiast, you know that the La Ventana, El Sargento area is the top Windsports destination in all of Baja Mexico’s East Cape Region! In fact, the La Ventana Bay is considered one of the top Windsport destinations in the world! There’s a uniqueness about the La Ventana Bay that makes launching from our beaches so desirable. The wind blows in from the north and becomes wedged between Cerralvo Island and the mainland creating a sideshore, or slight offshore wind! The Windsport season typically runs from late October through April, and brings some the most consistent winds found anywhere on earth!

Tired of freezing your tail off back at home? The tropical water of the Sea of Cortez gives us an average water temperature of 72 °F in the winter… and water temperatures in the 80’s and 90’s during the summer! However, where there's wind, there's a wind chill factor, and most will wear a 0.5mm top or full wetsuit. Remember, we are wimps here in Baja Sur... when the air temperature goes down to 70 °F , we are freezing! Our Boutique La Ventana Hotel is located in the desirable Hot Springs Bay area, or Bahia Aguas Calientes area of the La Ventana Bay, about 35 minutes south of La Paz. Not only is this beach a famous launching point for epic downwinders toward Baja Joe’s, but now days many kiteboarders and windsurfers stay here to surf the entire day because it's so beautiful here! Others simply choose this beach because it's not as crowded as the campground area. This beach is more pristine and isolated, and is called the Hot Springs Bay for this obvious reason... There's a natural hot spring which flows up through the ground, where the ocean water meets the sand, and creates a natural jacuzzi right on the beach in front of our hotel when the afternoon tide is just right! Windsurf widows, will love our beachfront infinity swimming pool! They can even take advantage of our daily scheduled shuttle trips to La Paz for a little shopping spree on the malecon.

The above image shows a typical, tranquil morning, before the wind kicks in to begin your fun filled day of windsports here in the La Ventana Bay, Baja Mexico. We are blessed to have the same typical calmness every evening just before sunset, as the wind and water lays down, so you can enjoy romantic walks on the beach, or invite your friends for an evening down by the water. These calm mornings also gives you the option of sneaking in an early morning of some of the best Sportfishing in the world, and your panga boat captain can bring you back to the beach by late morning, just in time for you to start a full day of Windsports!
